‘LUCIFER ORDERED ME’

Nabas, Aklan-AN 8-year-old girl died on the spot while four others were wounded after a bolo-wielding man ran amuck in Nabas, Aklan Wednesday afternoon.

The Nabas police arrested Gerald Orese, 22, of Brgy. Caticlan, Malay who went on a hacking rampage at Brgy. Union, Nabas past 2pm yesterday.Brgy. Union is some 20 kilometers from the Nabas town proper.

Initial reports from RMN-Kalibo said Orese went inside the home of Maribeth Salibio, 31, also of the said village and got hold of a two-foot bolo.

Without any provocation, Orese hacked Kimberly Espineda four times in the neck. The blows almost severed her head from the body, killing her on the spot.Orese also turned his rage on Kimberly’s mother Elsie, 30, and one-year-old brother Boboy who both suffered hack wounds in the head.

The other victims were Salibio and Mylene Gusi, 34. Both sustained the same wounds in their heads.The wounded were rushed to the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial District Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan.

In an interview with RMN Kalibo and Iloilo, Orese said a “voice” ordered him to hack anyone he meets.“It was the devil named Lucifer who whispered in my ears. My mind blacked out and everything just happened very fast,” Orese said.

The suspect said he was aware of what he was doing but he cannot stop because of the voice.“I stabbed Kimberly four times. I cannot stop because of the voice controlling my mind,” he added.

Orese is detained at the Nabas police station pending the filing of criminal charges against him.
