Army constructs new school buildings in Malinao

KALIBO, Aklan — The municipal government of Malinao under Mayor Jojie Ilio officially accepted the two newly-built Kalayaan barangay school buildings constructed at Brgys. San Roque and Osman by the Army’ 552ECB-53rd Engineer Brigade.

The turnover rites was held Thursday at the Malinao Public Market.

Witnessing the ceremonies were Colonel Arnulfo Atendedo of the 3rd Infantry Division, Malinao Vice Mayor Rosie Iguban, Engr. Hipolito Ibarreta, District Supervisor Roselyn Iguban, Capt. Antonio Tumnog, Civil Operation officer of the 47th IB; Major Axel Billarena, project engineer; Staff Sgt. Rodriguez, Civil Military Operation Unit; Staff Sgt. Glenn I. Zolina and the 31st PSYOPS team.

Major Billarena said the two school buildings are projects of the Regional KALAHI convergence group.

Billarena said Kalayaan Barangays were identified by the RPA-ABB as conflict areas in close coordination with the Philippine Army.

The new school buildings cost P500,000.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process (OPAPP) has also identified projects for Brgys. Yawan, Mina-a in Lezo and on going water system projects at Brgys. Malindog and Monlaque in the town of Ibajay.
