RP rowers take gold in Aussie meet
Team Philippines went home with one gold medal and bagged silver and bronze awards during the International Dragon Boat Federation's 8th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Sydney, Australia from Sept. 20-23, 2007.
The Filipinos were represented by mixed teams from Manila-based clubs and another group from Boracay.
The Pinoy rowers competed against teams from Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, Slovak Republic and the United States.
The complete medal haul is as follows: 1000m Men's Open: Gold - USA, Silver - Great Britain, Bronze - Philippines; 2000m Men's Open: Gold - USA, Silver - Slovakia, Bronze - Philippines; 200m Men's Open: Gold - Philippines, Silver - China, Bronze - Great Britain; 500m Men's Open: Gold - USA, Silver - Philippines Bronze - Great Britain.
