Bizzmen declares War on Wastes

Boracay Island- The Boracay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) had recently capped its campaign against waste management with the giving out of awards for its War on Waste (WOW: Boracay) program.

In a simple ceremony held here recently, the BCCI ended its campaign which is aimed to recognize the efforts of 17 resorts who implemented its respective waste management system.

“This is not the end, this is just only the beginning. I just hope we will continue what we started because we will be giving out similar award for waste management system in December of this year,” BCCI president Charlie Uy told the attendees.

The P4 million project is in coordination with the BCCI, the Malay municipal government and the Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Link Phase II (Pearl 2 project).

Malay Mayor Ciceron Cawaling in his inspirational speech, he acknowledges the role of the BCCI in partnering with the LGU’s program in ensuring that proper waste management systems in the resort island is being implemented.

The top ten finalists of the award were D’ Mall Boracay, Fairways and Blue Waterm Friday’s Beach Resort, Gold Crown resort, Jony’s Beach Resort, Mandala Spa, Patio Pacific Boracay, Red Coconut Beach Resort, Seawind Beach Resort, and the SPR Real Estate Incorporated.

For the major awards, Pink Patio received the third prize; Friday’s beach resort the second and Mandala Spa grabbed the first prize.

Other establishments who also participated in the contest were 357 Boracay resort, Alargo Park, Aria Restaurant, Binalot Fiesta Foods Incorporated, Casa Pilar Beach Resort, Club Manila East Boracay, Crystal Sand Beach Resort, Dave Straw Hat Inn, Du Berry Pensionne, Faith Village, Fat Jimmy Resort, Gilius Bamboo, Hey Jude Resort and Restaurant, Hotel Seraph, La Reserve Beach Hotel, Mango Ray Restaurant, Pinjalo Resort Villa, Puka Grande Restaurant, San Castles Beach Resort, Seabird International Resort, Stables Real Coffee, Sur Beach Resort and the Villa Kaloo Guest House.
