AKLAN PPO, AMRP & 5 OTHER AKLANON DELEGATES TO ATTEND

Kalibo, Aklan – Seven (7) Aklanon delegates will attend the first batch of the regional level Training of Trainers (TOT) on the Responsible Parenting Movement (RPM) and Natural Family Planning (NFP) on March 5-9, 2007 at the Grand Hotel, Iznart St., Iloilo City. They are as follows: Mr. Arturo P. Teodosio, Jr., Provincial Population Officer; Mr. Josue Maravilla, President of the newly reactivated Aklan Movement for Responsible Parenthood; Leah T. Tatoy, Municipal Population Officer-Designate of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tangalan; Vice Mayor Jean T. Velarde of New Washington LGU; Mrs. Aida Abayon, Master Teacher II of the Department of Education; Mr. Moises Inamac of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; and Mrs. Nuelia Zaldivar, Family Planning Coordinator of the Provincial Health Office.

This Training of Trainers is sponsored by the DOH Center for Health Development and the Regional Population Office (RPO) 6, Iloilo City. The participants are composed of delegations from the various provinces of Western Visayas who preferably handle population-related programs and activities.

The said Training is an offshoot of the recently launched Responsible Parenting Movement last January 31, 2007 wherein the keynote speaker was Archishop Antonio J. Ledesma S.J. Bishop Prelature of Ipil.

As per President Gloria M. Arroyo’s directive, the Responsible Parenting Movement should be strengthened, promoted and implemented down to the grassroots level. Thus, from this Training, the Regional RPM Team will be formed, then, the Provincial RPM Team, the Municipal RPM Team, and the Barangay RPM Team in the barangay level.

Western Visayas has now taken the big leap towards “empowering Filipino families through responsible parenthood by making couples aware of their basic responsibilities as parents, awakening in them a sense of responsibility and commitment towards their family, neighbors, community, society and nation as a whole and considering responsible parenthood as a way of life towards the attainment of sustainable human development”.
